Why can't I buy a GLOCK?
This is a question we have in store at least 3-4 times per week. We get asked a lot, and the short answer is – GLOCK handguns are not Massachusetts Compliant.
But, they're on "The List"
What you might not have seen at the top of that Roster is the following statement: “the transfers of handguns are also subject to the Attorney General’s Handgun Sales Regulations, 940 CMR 16.00, et seq. Firearms on this Approved Firearms Roster do not necessarily comply with the requirements of the Attorney General’s Handgun Sales Regulations.”
GLOCK handguns do not currently meet those regulations. It’s really as simple as that!
Why do some stores sell GLOCK?
GLOCK handguns can be sold to Law Enforcement officers in the State of Massachusetts, so some stores do sell GLOCK, but only to Law Enforcement.
Can I buy a GLOCK I found online?
Private Sales are not governed by the Approved Weapons Roster, or the Attorney General’s regulations. So, you may well find a GLOCK for sale online in MA. It would have to be a legal private sale/transfer, utilizing the Massachusetts Gun Transaction Portal.
GLOCKs that are for sale in any other state cannot be transferred to you, through a dealer in MA. Dealers cannot transfer non-compliant handguns, no matter where they came from, and handguns cannot be transferred across state lines without a dealer.
NB: You must always use the MA Gun Transaction Portal for Private Sales/Transfers.
